A Podcast About the Everyday Heroes TTRPG

Every Era Needs Heroes

Rules deep-dives, reviews, interviews, and community news for Evil Genius Games' modern-action roleplaying game.

What We're About

Everyday Heroes turns the world outside your window into an action movie, and Every Era Needs Heroes is the show that helps you play in it.

Hosted by two longtime tabletop gamers, this podcast covers Evil Genius Games' modern-action RPG from every angle. We run deep dives on the rules, from building heroes across the six archetypes to running cinematic combat, chases, and heists. We review the core rulebook, Cinematic Adventures, and third-party content, and tell you what is worth your table's time. We interview the designers, GMs, and creators shaping the game. And in every episode we round up the latest news from the Everyday Heroes community.

It is a show for a mixed table: approachable enough for someone who has never picked up a d20, and meaty enough for the GM who has been running modern games since the original d20 Modern. The name comes straight from the rulebook's own foreword, where d20 Modern co-creator Jeff Grubb signs off with a simple idea: every era needs heroes, and this is your time to be one.

Co-Host

Chris is a lifelong tabletop gamer and writer who never met a character sheet he didn't want to overthink. Josh dragged him into Everyday Heroes, and he's been happily hooked ever since, still digging through the rulebook and discovering new corners of the system he didn't know were there. On the show he brings a writer's eye for story and a player's love of the moment a perfectly ordinary person decides to do something heroic.
